Position Title: Director or Senior Manager, Author Services, China

Manager: Vice President and Editorial Director – China

Working Location: Beijing, China

Job Scope and Responsibilities

To lead the local team of JPMs and work together with the local leaders for marketing, institutional account management and corporate account management to increase Wiley’s share of quality research from China as published in Wiley’s journals globally
To lead the society, proprietary, and open access units, align the portfolio with global strategies and colleagues, and ensure profitability
To develop policies to increase authorship, readership and usage in China of Wiley’s global journal content
To develop policies and strategies to ramp up OA revenues in China
Build programs to work with the research community to encourage high achieving researchers to improve their abilities in writing research papers and steering that content to Wiley journals
Develop a knowledge about Chinese research and research output across all of the subject areas in which Wiley publishes to help attract content across our portfolio
Liaison with government bodies, research organizations, funding organizations, leading institutes and societies to ensure that Wiley is correctly positioned to benefit from changes in China in policy towards funding and publication
Develop key institutional relationships in subjects of emerging growth and importance in China
Lead and develop the team in place in China for the society, proprietary, and OA program
Explore new business opportunities in China for for the global society, proprietary, and OA program

Preferred Qualifications

A good knowledge of the publishing business
A knowledge of China and how it operates and works and how influence can be achieved
Ability to network and communicate within the research communities and foster deep and long relationships of mutual benefit to Wiley and those partnered
Native Mandarin and excellent English in both spoken and written
