Two PhD student positionsare available in Prof. Jie Zheng’s lab at University of Akron. Dr. Jie Zheng is a full professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of Akron. His research is highly interdisciplinary, currently focuses on i) amyloid peptides associated with neurodegenerative diseases, ii) advanced computational algorithms and models, iii) smart and tough polymeric hydrogels, iv) multifunctional superlow fouling biomaterials, and v) engineering biomaterials for biomedical applications. More information, please visit the lab website (https://sites.google.com/site/zhengakron/home/research) and google scholar (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=0popCNUAAAAJ&hl=en).General requirement(1) CV, transcript, TOEFL with minimal score of 79 or above and oral score of 23 or above;(2) M.S. degree is required (graduating students for 2020 are also fine);(3) Self-motivated, pro-activated, and positive attitude.Simulation position(1) Experience with molecular dynamics simulation;(2) Density function theory or data-mining is a big plus;(3) Strong interesting and skills in programming.Experimental positionEither (1) Polymer synthesis training is a big plus; or (2) Bioengineering with cells and protein engineering is a big plus.P.S. If you have a M.S. degree, but without any publication, please do NOT bother to apply for these positions.Any other questions, please feel free to contact Prof. Zheng firstname.lastname@example.org.
